Introduction

The Ministry is responsible for intellectual property through the Office of Intellectual Property, a unit dependent on the General Department of Cultural Industries and Policy and Books which includes the Intellectual Property Register.

Intellectual Property is the collection of rights corresponding to authors and other holders (artists, producers, radio broadcasting companies) on works and services created by them.

The Ministry is responsible for proposing measures to protect intellectual property adequately.

In the Ministry there is also a national collective body, the Intellectual Property Mediation and Arbitration Commission, which fulfils the duties of mediation and arbitration attributed to it by the Intellectual Property Act.
