The building is free of architectural barriers and there are reserved parking spaces, accessible bathrooms and ramps and lifts connecting the different areas of the museum.

Accessibility for the deaf

Altamira Museum offers the following services for people with hearing disabilities:

  • Guided tour of the Neocave with a Spanish Sign Language interpreter

These tours, for groups of over 5 people, are held on the second Saturday of every month and are free on presentation of disability identification. Prior booking must be made 15 days in advance through this email e-mail

The tour is led by an Altamira Museum Guide with a Spanish Sign Language Interpreter from the Cantabrian Deaf People`s Federation. Salto de línea Spanish Sign Language video Nueva ventana on Neocave's guided tour.

  • Spanish Sign language guides

For small family groups or individual visits. Sign language guides are lent out at the Information Desk and Cloakroom.

  • Magnetic loops

Magnetic loops are located at the ticket office, information desk, the audiovisual presentation at the entrance to the Neocave and in the auditorium. Portable audio and voice amplification devices are also available.

Visual accesibility

  • Audioguides with audiodescriptions. Loan at the information desk. This audioguide is also available as an app for mobile phones (Downloadable here Nueva ventana).

  • Audiovisuals with incorporated sound recordings along the whole exhibition in the museum.
