Entrance hall

Zaguán

Going through one restored doorway leads into the entrance hall of the house. Here there is a well with its high well head, 11 m. deep.

On the wall at the far end hangs the great canvas of The Naval Battle at Lepanto, an anonymous early 17th century painting of the Madrid School, which depicts one of the episodes in his biography the writer refers to most proudly as "the most noble occasion the past and present centuries have seen or those to come will ever see".

The steep narrow staircase, with its risers decorated with Talavera tiles, leads up to the rooms occupied by the author.Salto de línea
