After the recommendation issued last December by a group of experts from the European Commission for the Archives of the Crown of Aragon to be recognised with the European Heritage Label, the Commission decided to award this important distinction to the Archive (Official Journal of the European Union of 11 March 2015, 2015/C 83/03).
The granting of the European Heritage Label represents a recognition of the Archives of the Crown of Aragon’s commitment to preserve and disseminate the rich documentary heritage of its collections, an exceptional testament to the building of the European history and culture. The Archive will also form part of the communication and promotion strategy developed by the European Union, which aims to give greater visibility to the sites that have this Label.
The European Heritage Label Awards ceremony will take place on 13th April in Brussels and will be attended by Tibor Navracsics, European Commissioner for Education, Training, Culture, Youth & Sport, as well as various political representatives of the member countries and independent experts.
