What is this for: approval for co-production projects for films and other audio-visual works carried out with foreign companies.
Applicants: production companies.
Initiating the process: by application of the interested party.
When to apply: prior to the commencement of shooting the film or audio-visual work. Applications presented after shooting has begun will be dismissed.
Where to apply: on the website of the State Secretariat for Culture
, in the General Registry of this Ministry or where indicated in article 16.4 of Law 39/2015 of 1 October on the Common Administrative Procedure for Public Administrations.
Who decides: General Directorate of the Institute of Cinematography and Audio-visual Arts or by the competent body of the autonomous community.
How long does it take: a maximum of two months after application, in the field of competences of the Institute of Cinematography and Audio-visual Arts.
Appeals: Applicant can appeal directly to the Ministry and also through the Courts.

Documentation to present:
- Document proving the assignment of the author or authors of the script or, where appropriate, the option or assignment of the pre-existing work, and certification proving the inscription of the script in the Registry of Intellectual Property.
- Screenplay of the cinematographic film or audio-visual work and shooting plan.
- Economic budgeting plan for the project, per the official model, indicating the items and concepts that correspond to each country participating in the co-production.
- Nominal relation of the creative staff per the definition of article 4 j) of Law 55/2007 of 28 December on Cinema, and other technical personnel with expression of their nationality. Co-production agreement specifying the agreements of the parties, with precise indication of the participation of each co-producer, the contributions of creative personnel as defined in article 4 j) of Law 55/2007 of 28 December on Cinema, and other technical staff, the money transfers of each co-producer and the distribution of markets and benefits. When the co-production contract is written in a language other than Spanish, a translation of the co-production contract will also be submitted to this language.

If the applicant is a legal entity:
- Authorisation for ICAA to obtain the justification of the registration in the register of Businesses, Professionals & Withholders.
- In the case where express authorisation is not granted: proof of said document.
- If a trade name, mark or label is used, accreditation of its registration in accordance with the regulations governing industrial property.
- Photocopy of the fiscal identity card.
- Photocopy of the deed of incorporation in the public registry or, where appropriate, certification issued by the holder of the public registry in where registered.
- Documentation accrediting legal representation and capacity act with power of attorney.
If the applicant is a physical person:
- Authorisation for ICAA to obtain proof of inscription in the Register of Businesses, Professionals and Withholders.
- In the case where express authorisation is not granted: proof of said document.
- If a trade name, mark or label is used, accreditation of its registration in accordance with the regulations governing industrial property.
- Authorisation for your personal data can be consulted by the instructing body through the Identity Data Verification System.
- In the absence of such express authorisation: a photocopy of the National Identity Document or Spanish Foreigners’ Identity document or equivalent card.
