The experience of visiting the museum

Exposición “Ouka Leele inédita” (2008). Museo del Traje. CIPE

The research addresses the quality of the public’s visit to the museum. How the visitor evaluates their experience in the museum in both cognitive and emotional terms, analysing variables relating to the comfort of the visit, what has been learned during it, the relaxation achieved, the fascination experienced, the amusement, the engrossment or happiness felt, among others.

The results interest the Laboratory as they are an initial approach to the subjectivity of our visitors and to the knowledge of the factors that configure a visit experience perceived as valuable.

This study has been aimed at determining the influence that certain feelings experienced by the public when visiting the museums has on the general level of satisfaction and on the overall experience of the visit (up to thirteen variables have been measured using a scale created for the study - the positive museum experience scale).
