This General Department comprises the following offices:
- The Office for the Promotion of Cultural Industries and Patronage.
- The Intellectual Property Office.
- The Office for the Promotion of Books, Reading and Spanish Literature.
- The Office for Cultural Cooperation with Autonomous Communities.
- The Office for the Promotion Spanish Culture Abroad.
The Office for the Promotion of Cultural Industries and Patronage is the first of its kind and is responsible for centralising policies designed to promote cultural and creative industries.
Its functions are the following:
- To design the promotional policies for cultural industries and to develop or coordinate these policies when they correspond to specific competencies of the Department's other management centres or public entities.
- To design cultural action and promotion policies and to develop or coordinate these policies when they correspond to specific competencies of the Department's other management centres or public entities. To partner other institutions, entities, corporations and individuals to develop joint cultural action programmes.
- To promote social participation in the creation, cultural promotion and resource procurement processes through sponsorship programmes, voluntary work and cultural tourism, working in partnership, in the latter case, with competent Spanish Central Administration tourist promotion organisations.
- To set up and manage, if applicable, the system of subsidies and aid that is not the specific responsibility of any other managing entity, in accordance with the objectives established in the Ministry's programmes.
- To promote and coordinate the patronage activities related to the Department.
