With three simple horizontal strokes, Sorolla is able to suggest a seascape, empty, from which emerges a sail inflated by the wind on a boat. It is a drawing of great purity and synthesis capacity; with agile and spontaneous lines, he is able to give life to iconic elements inside of his work such as the sails, the boats and the sea.
At the time of producing this drawing, Sorolla is already an internationally recognized painter, but he does not abandon the subject of the work at sea or elements associated with it, inseparable and recurrent in all of his production and which allow him to approach and explore light in different textures.
