"EISA" Dress, ca. 1955-1960.
Hoop skirt of 5 metal hoops joined by cotton straps. The lower hoop, with the widest diameter, traces an ellipse. Cotton straps depart from the upper hoop that are attached to a wide waistband closed with a hook and eye.
The name "Eisa" was used by the House of Balenciaga for its creations in Madrid and Barcelona. Cristóbal Balenciaga (1895-1972) was one of the most emblematic and internationally renowned fashion designers. He began his training at a very young age and went on to master the art of dressmaking in all its dimensions. The fifties were perhaps the pinnacle of his career.
