Evening gown, 2000
Tunic-style, evening gown in shades of orange, embroidered with flat, metal sequins tracing vertical lines and combined with a purple-coloured, muslin silk veiling that covers the chest from the right shoulder to the left underarm. It is asymmetrical and figure-hugging, draped with a strap on the right and a long slit on the right side of the skirt, coinciding with the seam. It also has a slight train.
We could call this creation a new interpretation of the classic tunic. The novelty lies in the play on asymmetries in a bias cut that favours the use of shirring. It is from the 2001 Spring-Summer collection that was presented in the October 2000 show, in the Museo Nacional de Antropología. This gown was worn by the model, Nieves Álvarez.
