Bag (Purse)

1575-1610

Deep red silk purse with silver and gold. It has a partial opening on one side in the upper centre.

It is decorated with embroidered appliqué tracing a sheaf of vegetal stems in an S, interwoven with a link, coiled and swirling with flowers and a central tulip.

Based on the swirling and fragile decoration, it may date from the end of the 16th or start of the 17th centuries.
