Small, semi-circular mantilla in ecru-coloured linen thread. The reseau is made of square tulle with the application of Brussels and English lace. Fleur-de-lis, castles and walking lions alternate in eight rows.
Along the outer edge, flower garland and alternating walking lion, fleur-de-lis and large castles. Wavy border appliqué with dots in small rings. It uses darning stitches, guipure, twists and links. The yarn used is very fine, twisted linen for the background, thick and loose for the motifs and edges.
Used by Her Royal Highness, Queen Isabel II. Commissioned by the Regent, Mª Cristina de Borbón for the religious ceremony of her daughter’s betrothal to Francisco de Asís Borbón. Celebrated 1846/10/10
