The Museum of America collaborates in the training of future professionals of museums and heritage by offering internship placements to degree or postgraduate students of various universities or higher education institutions with which it has signed a specific agreement. This programme gives the students the opportunity to supplement their academic knowledge with other practical skills relating to the functions performed by the museum in the field of acquisition, preservation, exhibition and diffusion and communication of its activities and collections. Salto de línea Requirements:Salto de línea - The educational institution where the student is studying must be registered with the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport and there must be a valid collaboration agreement for carrying out internships in the state museums registered with the General Directorate of Fine Arts and Cultural Assets and of Archives and Libraries, in which the obligations of the parties are specified, as well as the arrangements for the students in practical training.
- The Institution, or the interested party him/herself, must send to the e-mail address practicas.america@mecd.es the following form completed and signed, attaching to it the student’s curriculum vitae, at least three months prior to the proposed commencement date of the internship.
When the application has been received, the Museum will assess the tutorial possibilities of its various departments, as well as the suitability of the student’s profile and education. If the application is accepted, the Museum will designate a tutor who will coordinate the educational actions, guarantee the student’s guidance and facilitate the relationships with the tutor of the educational institution.Salto de línea In general, the training period should be envisaged for at least 300 hours, to be undertaken from 9:30 to 14:30, Monday to Friday. In some cases, attendance will be necessary at other times or at the weekend. This will be notified prior to formalisation of the internship agreement with the student.
